

The Assistant Director of Flight Training serves as a direct report to the Director of Aerospace Airport Operations with overall leadership responsibility for MTSU flight training. This includes oversight of all 14 CFR Part 141 and Part 61 flight training operations, serving over 400 students per semester and more than 100 flight instructors. Provides direct supervision of the Flight Training Managers, Records Manager, and the Checkride Coordinator. Coordinate flight training operations with the academic mission of the Department of Aerospace through the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures.
Serve as the FAA-designated 14 CFR Part 141 Chief Instructor for all MTSU Part 141 flight courses. Support the Director of Aerospace Safety by serving as the flight training representative to the Aerospace Safety Committee and ensuring operational compliance with safety program policies and procedures. Collaborate with the Director of Aerospace Airport Operations on planning and implementing strategic initiatives related to flight training. Assist Aerospace faculty with accreditation activities and departmental initiatives that involve flight training. Provide evaluation and assessment of flight training activities to promote standardization and continuous program improvement. Serve as the faculty of record for all Flight Lab courses.
