Additional requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Knowledge of standard pilot training practices and all applicable information resources.
  • Knowledge required to demonstrate competence in the privileges of the pilot and instructor certificates held.
  • Knowledge of pedagogy and instructional theory.
  • Knowledge of higher education stand practices.
  • Regularly demonstrate competence in all primary flight and instructional responsibilities including piloting, flight instruction, ground instruction, student evaluation and instructor evaluation.
  • Effective teaching skills.
  • Interpersonal communications and development skills.
  • Management and supervisory skills.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to pass initial and recurrent tests related to Part 141 chief instructor duties.
  • Ability to maintain proficiency and currency on required pilot and instructor privileges.

  • Ability to develop assessments.
  • Ability to interact with others in a collegial manner.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively verbally and in writing.
