Sad but truth

Pros

Good technical status of the fleet.

Cons

Marabu was once a company with a positive working culture where many employees genuinely enjoyed their jobs. However, within 7 months of the new management taking over, the company has undergone a dramatic negative change. I agree completely with many of the other reviews. The management style has become increasingly intimidating. Employees have received emails with a threatening tone, and several people have been given final warnings or even terminated without any meaningful discussion or formal interview process. The current management, which is primarily Swiss, German, and Middle Eastern, has introduced a culture that many employees find fear-driven. Even office staff have chosen to leave because of the same atmosphere of warnings and pressure. A number of First Officers were recommended for command upgrades after successful evaluation flights. Under the previous management and evaluation captains, they received positive assessments. However, in the end, only one or two were approved by the new management. In addition, several captains have been dismissed without being given a proper opportunity to discuss the decisions or present their side. The company is in urgent need of captains, yet it struggles to attract enough applicants. The terms and conditions are not competitive, and the company's reputation within the industry has deteriorated. As a result, multiple recruitment agencies are now being used to find pilots, as relatively few are applying directly to Marabu.

Advice to management

There is now virtually no trust between employees and management, and rebuilding that trust will be extremely difficult. It is understandable to want to make a growing company more structured and disciplined, but that cannot be achieved through threats, fear, or terminating employees for what many perceive to be vague or poorly justified reasons. There is a reason why many people no longer want to work for Marabu. Over the past six months, the company has introduced a series of cost-cutting measures that have negatively affected employees. These include removing extra allowance, no crew meals, reducing standby pay, not fully covering medical examinations, and several other reductions in employee benefits. While each change may seem minor on its own, together they have significantly impacted morale and contributed to the company's declining reputation as an employer. The entry salary structure is unusual, and the annual salary progression lacks transparency. Employees are not shown the salary scale or informed about how future pay increases are determined, making it impossible to know what colleagues earn or what their own salary progression will look like. This lack of transparency creates uncertainty and gives the impression of an unfair compensation system.

Advice to future employees

Be aware of how quickly management changes its decisions, closes bases, and introduces new terms and conditions for new hires that are significantly less favorable than those offered to existing employees. This inconsistency creates uncertainty and makes it difficult for employees and potential applicants to have confidence in the company's long-term direction.

Pros

New management in both flight operations and training. Very much improved communications to crew. News standards and expectations to training and crews. Employees mostly, not contractors. 737 flies Europe. 747 Asia and Middle East. Some Europe.

Cons

Very complex and difficult understand vacation system. This because of Bulgarian laws, but also because no set rules from company. Aircraft are getting old with the usual problems.

Advice to management

Inform employees more.

Advice to future employees

For 747 good joining now. Growing company.

Pros

+ Colleagues + 2 Sector days + Neo fleet

Cons

- The new management has created a culture of fear by frequently threatening disciplinary action or dismissal. It used to be a good employer with a few flaws, but since the new management took over, the working environment has deteriorated significantly. The culture has become increasingly toxic, morale is very lowannd many pilots are actively looking for opportunities elsewhere

Advice to management

The company doesnt have an operational problemit has a leadership problem. The current management culture has replaced trust with fear, leaving many employees disengaged and actively looking for opportunities elsewhere. Stop treating crews as a problem to manage and start treating them as the reason the airline succeeds.

Advice to future employees

Avoid.

Pros

Fast-growing airline with good future potential. * Modern Airbus A320neo fleet. * Attractive and expanding route network. * Well-structured and standardized training program. * Professional instructors and good support during training. * Friendly and supportive colleagues with a good team spirit.

Cons

The base salary is relatively low; the overall income becomes attractive mainly when flying overtime. * Flight Operations communication can sometimes come across as rather directive or strict. * There are now many new rules and procedures. While standardization is important, there is sometimes a feeling that discussions take place only after new rules have already been introduced. A balance between clear standards and open communication would be beneficial.

Advice to management

As I was a line captain and not part of management, I don’t feel it is appropriate for me to give advice to management.

Advice to future employees

Come well prepared, follow the SOPs, maintain a professional attitude, and do your job to the required standard. If you do that, you should have no problems and can expect a good and fair working environment.

Please stay away.

Pros

young neo fleet with minor issues

Cons

Management communication from management has become increasingly dominated by warnings and references to disciplinary measures, giving many pilots the impression that they are being managed through intimidation rather than trust. instead of encouraging open dialogue and a professional working relationship, this approach has created uncertainty and anxiety throughout the pilot group. since the change in management, confidence has declined significantly. a large number of pilots now feel under constant pressure, with a growing perception that even minor issues could have serious consequences for their careers. this has resulted in an environment where fear of losing one's job often outweighs the confidence needed to perform at the highest professional standard.

Advice to management

None because it will be ignored anyways

Pros

A320 Neo so a young fleet.

Cons

Management is treating pilots as though they are children, and almost every email addressed to flight crew ends with threats of disciplinary action or possible dismissal. This approach creates an atmosphere of fear rather than professionalism and does little to foster mutual trust and respect.

Advice to management

None

Advice to future employees

I would strongly advise staying away. Morale is extremely low, and many employees—including a significant number of captains—are actively looking for opportunities elsewhere.

Pros

Atmosphere between flying crew Passangers

Cons

Payment is a big issue. While as LTC you will earn more than Lufthansa, the FO is paying the price. Low Salary, with Commuting Contract deduction as low as €1700. Morale extremely low. Alot of people quitting

Advice to management

Start revising FO salary and make it somehow comparable to other airlines in germany.
