Nice and clean city to live in, very friendly atmosphere, pay is ok. Well maintained fleets, and good engineering network. Colleagues are super friendly and helpful. The layovers are quite decent and crews stay in very good hotel. You fly about 50-60 hours a month.
The picture painted for me when I came for assessment, is not the picture I got when I joined. Training was overwhelming, and is very packed. On top of that, you have to study for GCAA Airlaw exam and apartment hunt. Rostering is useless. Trying to swap a flight or standby or off day will result in a million violations, so you’re pretty much stuck with the published roster. Bidding for string off days or certain flights barely works, yet they give you a 100% satisfaction rate for your bids. The leave system is also another f@ckup! I got all my 42 days of yearly leave in the first 5 months of 2025. Abu Dhabi is quite expensive, but we get lots of EY discounts in pubs are restaurants. Beware of scammers calling you from foreign numbers. Summertime is brutal, hot and humid!
Offer some commuting options, and deliver what is stipulated in the signed contracts.
EY is more chilled than other Middle East Airlines, as I’ve heard. If you’re ok living in an expensive concrete jungle, then EY could be for you.
