Pros

Modern fleet, secure airline due 51% NZ Government ownership, good pay and benefits, great work life balance.

Cons

Short haul and long haul fleets currently affected by PW1100 and RR Trent 1000 engine issues resulting in reduced schedule.

Advice to future employees

External applicants for direct to jet roles need to be aware that current company policy prioritises their own turbo prop pilots. Externals can still get in direct to jet but will be leap frogged on the seniority list at a ratio of 4:1 (for every new external jet pilot they will have 4 company turbo prop pilots placed ahead of them on the list even though they’re not yet flying the jet. If 10 new externals join, then 40 prop pilots will be placed ahead of them). Anticipate minimum narrow body command time of 10-12 years. Policy may be reviewed if external’s difficult to attract as the company will need them.
