Additional requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Advanced degree and 13+ years of relevant experience
  • The Aviation Manager, Aviation Safety Point of Contact, Aviation SME and ARM Aerial Facility pilot for PNNL must hold a current ATP certificate for the class and category aircraft for which the PNNL pilot will be required to operate
  • Have at least two years of experience as PIC of an aircraft of similar class and category for which they will be required to operate.
  • Have at least 3 years of experience as a supervisor of an aviation specific department within an aviation unit or company which operated Part 25 aircraft or similar.
  • Demonstrate appropriate knowledge of the operational planning, implementation of operations and maintenance programs
  • Have formal education/training in aviation safety and have two years of experience as an aviation safety professional.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the aviation mishap investigation process, emergency preparedness, aviation safety and human factors.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of regulations and standards relating to aircraft operations
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of aviation Safety Management Systems and/or the ISBAO system and protocols.
  • Have a valid aeronautical Radio Telephone Operators permit
  • Have a valid and current passport

Preferred

  • Military crew served jet experience
  • Military department level experience
  • Experience in aviation operations, maintenance operations and practices
  • Basic understanding of the FAA modifications of aircraft process
  • Experience working with Safety Management Systems, ISBAO certifications, and management of safety programs
  • Experience in positions of authority and making difficult decisions
  • Have a good understanding of helicopter capabilities and operations.
  • Have excellent communication skills and good public speaking/presentation skills
  • Demonstrated history of leadership success in small to large organizations
  • Have familiarity with Unmanned Aerial System operations and regulatory environment
